MediaTek (MTK) hat ein Anteil von 35% in der 2/2.5G Markt. Der MT6573 ist der erster 3G Chip aber funktioniert nur auf 650 MHz und ist langsamer als der low end Einsteiger von Qualcomm, der MSM7227A (800 MHz). Erster MTK 1 GHz Chipsatz wird erst im 2012 erwartet. Weiter hat MTK ein 3G Vertrag mit Qualcomm wobei MTK nicht erlaubt ist Geschäfte zu machen mit hersteller ohne Qualcomm Lizenz. Die meisten Kunden (Hersteller) sind aus China und haben kein Qualcomm Lizenz. Auch sind diesen Hersteller nicht fähig zu konkurrieren mit dem Weltweiten Handy Hersteller.
