Hi all! This question is mostly for ColonelZap as I have seen in some chinese site that he already tried to get an updated firmware for the Pinphone. Were you able to get it? Any clue about any new firmware available soon? I have seen in the Pinapple site that the new Pinphone includes GPS Navigation.. I wonder if this upgrade is just an upgrade in the firmware enabling the GPS chipset or you think there is new hardware in place? Please let's share our thoughts... Thanks!
I have just been told from a friend from Russia that he found an online store who claims that they will be selling flash cables for this phone. Right now I can't tell you if this is actually true?!? I don't think a simple firmware update can enable GPS on the "old" pinphones, IF GPS will ever be available, I am sure it has to be on phones with a new hardware.
The GPS chip may be on the motherboard already, just not activated yet because still in testing stage for new firmware. Need the drivers to activate the GPS chip. It would be a nice surprise if this were true. All we would have to do is flash new firmware. Let's hope GPS chip is on our phones.
I opened the phone and couldn't find anything that might indicate that this phone has a GPS chip inside already?!? My guess is they'll bring out a whole new hardware version of this phone.
