Ich bin ja echt mal gespannt, wann diese Umi-Phones wirklich real von irgendwem hier in den Händen gehalten werden. Langsam beschleicht mich fast das Gefühl, die Dinger müssten erst vom Yeti persönlich nicht nur zusammengeschraubt, sondern auch zur Post gebracht werden.

Ich habe jetzt seit zwei Tagen ein UMI X1S. Nachdem ich mein schönes ZP980 die Treppe runtergeworfen hatte und der Touchscreen gebrochen ist, musste aus der Not heraus ein neues Telefon her.

Die technischen Daten entsprechen tatsächlich dem, was in den Shops so über das Telefon zu lesen ist.

Das X1S ist von der Grösse her sehr angenehm, die verarbeiteten Materialien sind allerdings deutlich weniger wertig als die meines bisherigen ZP980. Naja irgendwo muss der Preisunterschied ja auch herkommen, es war ja auch fast nur halb so teuer.
Gefühlt läuft das X1S deutlich flüssiger als das ZP980, was sicher daran liegen dürfte, dass das X1S mit 1280x720 eine niedrigere Auflösung hat, die den MT6589 nicht ganz so an die Grenzen bringt. Ansonsten ist das Display des X1S sehr gut, sehr blickwinkelstabil und hell.

Alles, was ich bisher so testen konnte, hat ganz gut funktioniert, allerdings reagieren die Touchkeys manchmal etwas störrisch. Die Kamera macht für ein Chinahandy ganz passable Photos, für Schnappschüsse reicht es, für anspruchsvollere Dinge natürlich eher nicht.

Die Empfangsschwankungen beim WCDMA-Empfang (bei mir im D2-Netz) sind auch bei diesem Telefon zu bemerken, anscheinend ist das ein verbreitetes Problem der MT6589-Telefone.

Wie auch beim ZP980 ist ein OTA-Updater zu finden, ob der von UMI allerdings je für Updates genutzt wird!? Im Moment ist jedenfalls Android 4.2.1 mit der Firmware 20130511-184037 installiert.

Wenn ich in einigen Tagen wieder aus dem Urlaub zurück bin und Interesse besteht, kann ich gerne noch einen kleinen Testbericht verfassen. Bis dahin habe ich sicherlich noch einige interessante Infos über das Telefon gesammelt
